Wondering, “Should I create a YouTube Channel or a training course?”
.
Great question!
I’ve done both, and I highly recommend my clients do the same.
Here’s how I decide which of the two I will create at any given time:
- if I want to create a WHAT TO DO video (to answer a question, for example), I put the video on YouTube so it can act as a 24/7 marketing video
- if I want to create a HOW TO video with step-by-step tutorials, I use these for a free or paid training course online.
When to use a YouTube Channel
I can reach a very wide potential audience by putting the WHAT TO DO videos on the YouTube Channel (my 24 hour “tv” advertising hub).
The videos can be viewed – for free – non-stop, forever, or until I choose to delete them at some point in the very-far-away future.
This means I can offer great “answers” to questions I receive about a product or service and post them on your Channel.
Each video becomes a mini TV advertisement which can be found by people searching for answers to their questions or problems.
I can also create “list” of videos on YouTube to help with binge-watching my helpful videos – win-win.
When to use Training Courses
If a viewer wants more in-depth answers and needs a step-by-step tutorials, these types of videos can be found within a video Training Course.
Training courses can be hosted on:
- Teachable
- Skillshare
- Udemy
- or other training course platforms.
As well as more in-depth training, an online course often provides additional valuable content like PDFs, Check Lists, Cheat Sheets, Slideshows, Audio files like a Podcast, etc.
Do I recommend Udemy?
I used to use Udemy but moved away a few years ago because I had no control over the Recommended Retail Price (Udemy can put any course “on sale” whenever it likes for any price).
I found that hard to get used to for the types of courses I had uploaded, so I moved my training courses to other platforms.
