The Quickest and Easiest MP3 Player for WordPress is a MYTH!

Or so it seemed — I just spent about 4 hours trying to find the simplest audio player for a client’s WordPress website.
I read all the blog posts with titles like “The Top 10 (or 5 or 7 etc) Audio Players!”.
I installed five different players and tried the pre-installed audio solution (which used 100% of the screen width — and I can’t help but wonder WHY???).
I tested each of them, tried the shortcodes, added the options, tested them out … and sat here with my bottom lip quivering with disappointment.
Surely it can be so hard to find a plugin which is quick and easy to install and use?
I scoured search engine results, tried coming up with new searches, and spent HOURS trolling online trying to solve what I thought was a relatively straightforward problem.
What I found is that many plugins don’t work with the latest WP version, or don’t work with all Themes, or just don’t work.
Some audio players looked great on the plugin page and the snapshots, but in reality didn’t pass the test.
In the end I scrolled and scrolled through the WP plugins list for audio and BINGO!
I spotted something which made me feel super hopeful!

I installed on the client site:
- found and copied the shortcodes for a “single player” (rather than a Playlist)
- pasted the shortcode
- added the URL (hosting the audio file on the client site for the time being — I actually used an .M4a audio recorded on an iPhone — worked perfectly and didn’t need to be converted to .mp3)
- saved and refreshed the page
- VOILA! It LOOKS GREAT and works perfectly.
