What’s needed to maker a great book trailer video?

1. a book you wrote or someone else you know wrote
2. a few notes about the Beginning, the Middle and the End
3. the beginning is the Introduction
4. the Middle is what the book’s about – best features, plot line etc
5. the End is – as always – the Call To Action – what do you want the viewer TO DO NEXT?

Make notes about each of these sections, and then start to sketch out what you’d like to “see” in the video:

• the book cover
• the Author
• the book Title
• a couple of inside pages
• will there be a voiceover like this Alicia Keys video?
• will there be music?
• if you direct the viewer to a link somewhere which you control (website, blog, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest etc), what will they do when they land there? Can they sign up for a freebie to get onto your mailing list? That’s the best possible way to know who’s interested in the book, so that you can go BACK to them in the future and tell them about your new books.
• if you’re directing the viewer to Amazon or other book publisher, are you using an Affiliate Link to earn a small commission, or to track how the marketing is working?

All of these points should be considered, so that the video creation and publishing benefits the Author, and can be tracked.

Additional thought

I was keen to see that this book is less expensive in the Hardcover version, than the Paperback. I think this is a great way to get a sturdy covered book into the right hands; paperbacks won’t last as long as hardcovers, and I like what Alicia has done here.
